I have a new outlook on fashion as of a couple of months ago. I have always been drawn to a very tom-boyish comfortable style, but strayed away from it in college because so many of my friends were so girly and I thought I had to fit in. Finally, I was having dinner with one of my best friends, commonly known as Lola Charles, and she labeled my style as "prepster". This struck me because when I think of prepster I think of people like Carly from The College Prepster, who has an amazing traditional preppy style. However, Lauren explained that she always thought of my style as a little bit of preppy mixed with a little bit of hipster influences, hence the prepster. I went home and really thought about it that night. My style is so complex, as every persons should be, but I've always been afraid of showing it because once upon a time it was looked down upon. So this fall I'm officially embracing my tomboy style, and this is way easier because I just started working at a coffee shop downtown here in Lexington, and I can (luckily) wear whatever I want!
So here is some of my inspiration for this fall. It really is a mix of classic pieces with a few tomboyish influences. (Notice how jeans/pants are a common theme? There's nothing I love more than a good pair of jeans!)
I've always been obsessed with big, comfy sweaters. I love the mix of detailed skinny jeans with a big knit and a pair of more masculine boots.
I absolutely love the style of Mary over at Happily Grey. Baseball tees have always been my go-to when I don't know what to wear, but dressed up a bit with booties and some distressed denim? Perfect.
Finally, gingham which, besides flannel, is my favorite pattern for fall. This look is always casual, but can be dressed up or down depending on whether I'm spending a day running errands or going to an alumnae advisory meeting for the local chapter of my sorority.
What are your favorite go-to's for fall?
xxKatie Rose
